On 1 August 2022, stage 1 of the Building and Construction Industry (Security of Payment) Act 2021 (WA) came into effect. The Act is being implemented in 3 stages, with the other stages to commence on 1 February 2023 (stage 2) and 1 February 2024 (stage 3). Stage 1 of the Act centres on the new security of payment laws and the adjudication process which is now more closely aligned with the East Coast.
